5Does exactly what you'd expect...Jul 03, 2009
By Monomer
I usually like to 'live' with a product for awhile before posting any sort of review. We've been using our Tribest Citrus Juicer for about 3 months now. There really is not much to say other than it does exactly what I expected a citrus juicer to do... it reams citrus fruits very fast, very efficiently, very safe and easy to use, a really powerful motor, simple quick clean-up and it looks good. Excellent plastics materials used in construction and its a simple, smart design. It might be a little more expensive than many of the other citrus juicers currently in the marketplace but you can be sure you won't be disappointed. When searching for a citrus juicer I read quite a few reviews and it seems weak motors were the biggest single complaint with most of these electric citrus juicers. However I gathered from the reviews about this Tribest Citrus Juicer that a weak motor would definitely NOT be an issue and then when I considered the relatively small price difference for a juicer with a more powerful and reliable motor it really was a no-brainer decision for me. So today, after 3 months of everyday use (sometimes twice a day) squeezing 4-5 oranges and a grapefruit at a time (enough juice for two) I can comfortably come forward and recommend this juicer as a durable, quality kitchen appliance that looks good enough to leave out on the counter and you wouldn't mind using it everyday.

This is a fine juicer. It works well and is easy to use and clean. I can also convey confidence in the manufacturer. The unit I received (it was a mail order) was missing a part; while this situation might be considered a negative, my phone call to them about it was courteously and promptly handled.

1Manufacturer would not exchange defective item.Apr 05, 2006
By R. Akka
I received the CitriStar juicer, and immediately after opening it, found that, about 25% of the time, the motor would buzz instead of engaging and rotating.

When I called Tribest, they told me firmly that I needed to press down on it using a citrus fruit instead of my hand, and then it would work properly. This turned out to not be true (not surprising, as the juicer does not appear to include sensors and circuitry to insure that the object pressing on it is a citrus juicer instead of, say, a couple of fingers). I called them back, and they said that I could only return it, under warranty, after registering the product. I did this, and called them back yet again. I was then told that they would examine it for possible warranty repair or replacement. When I told them that it was defective right out of the box, and that I did not want a repaired defective item, but a new item, they informed me that they simply don't do exchanges under any circumstances, and that they could not help me. I am currently taking care of this via my credit card company.

The thing is, I really liked the product based on its description, more powerful motor, and so on. If only it worked as advertised, or was cheerfully replaced with one that worked as advertised. Oh well.

4Best BuyJun 03, 2009

After burning out a Krups and returning the laughably inept Cuisinart, I did the research, read everyone's reviews and put my money on THIS guy. And got lucky. This machine does what you want it to do, simply and quickly.

The real beauty is in the surprisingly powerful motor. It snarls while it rocks and begs for more -- Love it -- will ream an orange half in about 7 seconds! Cleaning is a breeze because the top portion lifts out and simply needs rinsing off, leaving the rest of the unit clean. And it's a nice design that looks fine on the counter.

Two downsides preventing five stars:
the hole for the juice to pour out is too small and occasionally gets clogged with pulp. There's plenty of room for it to be twice the size, so how silly is that?
And the pour spout is a little too low, requiring you to raise the machine for taller glasses.

But there is no perfect machine, and this guy comes close in its ease of use, not to mention terrificly affordable price.

4Great Juicer, if ONLYAug 15, 2009
By L. Owens "Clean Floor Fanatic"
I've had my CitriStar for around two years now. It works flawlessly, and does a good job. I like having the option of the smaller reamer for lemons/limes and the larger one for organges/grapefruit etc.

My only cons are that the pour spout holders broke rather early on, which made the stop feature unavailable and the juicer inconvenient when changing out glasses. The plastic pins that hold that spout in place are rather flimsy.

What would make this the " PERFECT" bar none juicer for me?

An optional top deck ( i.e. collecting platform, reamer(s)etc ) that are all stainless steel and have a sturdier mechanism for the pour spout that makes it easy to remove for cleaning and then replace.
Whatever the cost would be, I think that would be a valuable option, and one I would purchase.

Because of the lack of this option, I am still looking for the perfect juicer to use and recommend to my students.
I am looking at the Breville, but I like the idea of the dual reamers on the CitriStar.

What would put this juicer over the top?

Well, aside from optional stainless steel juicing parts, having it available in colors like bisque, silver, brushed chrome, black, red, would really make this a very special and highly marketable juicer.

However, if color does not matter to you, or white is your preference... and contact with plastic, that can hold germs and might leach chemicals like BPA, doesn't bother you, then at this price point, I feel that this is really an optimal juicer.
