4all goodSep 01, 2010
been about a month (1-2 times a day) and still going strong... would have given it 5 stars if it didn't issues juicing some leafy green like lettuce, but am overall satisfied with the purchase. frozen bananas through this juicer is awesome, just make sure to thaw them them out first.

5Excellent Juicer!Aug 30, 2010
This is a terrific juicer. I have been juicing for over twenty years with Omegas model 1000 and it is still running great. But the 1000 is a centrifugal juicer and does not eject the pulp. I got weary of cleaning all the pulp out of the large strainer basket. Also, if I wanted to juice a large amount of produce, the strainer basket needed to be emptied in order to continue on. I wanted something easier to clean and something I did not have to empty mid-stream. The Omega VRT330 solves those problems and more. It is well built, has a small footprint, and is very easy to clean... and the juice tastes better! Much fuller and sweeter tasting. In the past when juicing carrots, sometimes they were a little bland and not very sweet. With the VRT330, I have not had a bad batch of carrots and I have been juicing with it for a month (use it every day, and most days, morning and night) - that's a lot of carrots. There is hardly any frothing, virtually no pulp in the juice, and the ejected pulp comes out very dry (soft fruits come out a bit wet, but this is the norm for most juicers). I have juiced carrots, parsnips, celery, oranges, grapefruit, mint, parsley, grapes, beets (with green tops), apples, mangos, lemons, etc. I like the fact that you can reinsert the ejected pulp and have it squeeze out the last little bit of juice. Also like that it has a reverse switch for the occasional time when a hard vegetable gets stuck - just hit reverse for a couple of seconds, then forward, and you're good to go. And the produce just glides in, no forceful pushing is required - it's basically an automatic feed.

Juicing suggestions: sometimes when juicing stringy fruits or vegetables, they tend to clog the hole in the strainer basket. This prevents any remaining produce from being pressed completely if they are inserted after the stringy items. So, if you are juicing a lot of different kinds of fruits and veggies including the stringy ones, insert the stringy ones at the end of the process. Also, if juicing hard veggies along with soft veggies or fruit, I usually add the soft items in between the hard ones (carrots, grapes, apples, then a carrot or two) to help push things through, and then I reinsert the pulp to help squeeze out more juice as the soft fruits come out a bit wet the first time through. Of course this is not necessary, but I like to get the maximum amount of juice.

Cleaning suggestions: when I cleaned the strainer basket for the first time, I used the little brush that came with the unit. After a couple of weeks of doing that, I realized that clean up time became much shorter if I rubbed the basket vigorously with a sponge FIRST, and then used the brush to brush out any remaining pulp. Of course, all the other parts of the juicer just rinse clean with hot water.

Assembly reminder: there is a little plug attached to the bottom of the plastic container that needs to be unplugged when cleaning, and reinserted for juicing (it remains attached to the bottom of the housing, so you can't lose it, but it does need to be reinserted for juicing). I have forgotten to reinsert that thing numerous times, consequently, some of the pulp oozes out of the bottom of the container - not a lot of pulp, just a bit. You probably won't know you forgot to plug it back in until you remove the container from the base and find some pulp there. Of course, if you decide to run some water through the juicer to clean it out for a different kind of juice, the water will run out the bottom, so.... remember to put the plug back in when reassembling!

One thing I would love to see is an all stainless steel base (obviously for aesthetics only).

I highly recommend this juicer. It is a pleasure to use.

4Better than a centrifugal juicerAug 10, 2010
Overall, a pretty good juicer but maybe not worth the high price. Here's a comparison with my old centrifugal (Mr. Juicer) model.

Pros:

Quiet! Compared to my old centrifugal juicer, it's like moving from a vacuum cleaner to a dust mop! You can actually keep listening to the radio - or to your loving, helpful spouse - while operating this thing.

Easy to feed. No need to cram vegetables in with the push stick. While it chomps down one item, I can be preparing the next. This is much more pleasant to operate.

Safer. Centrifugals like the Juice Man sometimes get out of balance, especially with soft fruits or foods having skins like tomatoes. And they spin very fast. When I had to catch mine dancing off the countertop after sending in a few strawberries, I decided it was time to move on. I would no longer let my wife or children operate it. I like mixing in some apples, strawberries, etc. . . It does wonders for the taste of the kale.

Neutral:

Cleaning. It's only slightly easier to clean than my old model. It still takes 5-10 minutes.

Efficiency. Advertisements often brag about how 'dry' the mush or whatever you call it is. The drier it is, the more juice you supposedly extracted. This might be a little drier than a Mr. Juicer but not significantly.

Cons:
Higher price. At $350, its more than twice as much as a high end centrifugal.

Summary: Getting a glass of juice out of any of these things takes nearly a half hour considering you've got to prepare the ingredients, feed 'em through the machine (the easiest and fastest part), then clean up afterwards. If you're acting on a whim and end up using your juicer just a few times before sending it to the garage sale, you could do the same at half the price with a centrifugal. But if you're going to juice on a regular basis, this might make you happier in the long run.

5Great for people with arthritis in their handsJul 30, 2010
I love this juicer! I did a lot of research before purchasing a juicer, including watching many youtube videos to see how they work. I realized I needed an vertical feed juicer because there was no way my arthritic hands could feed veggies into a horizontal juicer. Yes, this juicer is expensive but I am thrilled to have a juicer that I can use without hurting my hands. That makes it worth the price for me.

2Vert has issuesJul 06, 2010
Right-o, so I felt I ought to update my review and change my rating due to a few issues I'm having with my Vert. Recently I've noticed that my juice has more pulp in contrast to the ejected spew of pulp which is now 'less' dry. Spoke to customer service and they stated that it's probably the screen housing or a (ugh) shaved auger. I thought the auger was near steel strong. Still, Omegas' CS was professional, timely and attentive and a couple days later a new screen at my door. No help provided in the swap so Omega is sending a new auger to test out. In the interim I've decided to just purchase a different machine which I know hasn't had screen issues, auger worries and pulp piddle; the Super Angel Juicer. However the beast cost a LOT more than the Vert and I'm a little concerned the quality/ quantity may not be worth the extra incurred cost. So my new machine will make its home here sometime next week and the Omega auger should arrive as well to do a comparison test on.

Returning back on track when I purchased the Vert it was wonderful. Pulp was ever so slight and moist and the juice contained only small bits of pulp which was tolerable. Taste was always superb and rich but frankly I would never have described it as smooth or clean tasting as you sometimes get from a Norwalk. Yes I know a Norwalk is over 2k and it's not a linear comparison.

If Omega would fix the screen and auger issues without concern for auger shavings now I might not have given up on them. Omega is a great company and they stand behind their machines faults and all.
