1Very Messy Juicer, The Juice Goes All Over The PlaceDec 20, 2010
By techjay
I bought this juicer based on a youtube video and not realizing that he was just a salesman for Omega. I must say I am not very happy with this juicer as the juice, like a another poster said goes all over the place. I also had to return my juicer after a month because it started to eat the top cover. You would think that after a year some of these things would have gotten ironed out but I am sad to say that so far this juicer still needs some work. Customer service was good and replaced my juicer right away but I have not used it yet as I have to figure out how to stop the juice from going all over my kitchen.

5love my juicer!!!Dec 24, 2010
By Francisco G. "Frank"
after literally spending days (total hours spent) researching through all the types of juicers and reading all kinds of reviews and watching videos, i finally decided to go with the omega big mouth. the 10 year warranty is nearly unsurpassed and with this investment i would feel unsafe with 1 year or less warranties. i was a little weary with the negative reviews but went ahead and got it. I am new to juicing but from what i can tell it does a great job. i love my juicer the pulp is very dry (some moisture) but got most of the juice. I don't have the problem with juice flying all over and its very easy to clean and assemble. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get into juicing!!!

1Defective unit? Plastic Shavings and Counter MessSep 15, 2010
By Kevin K. Fosler
First, let me say that I am not new to juicing. I have an old Omega, I think it's the 1000 model. It is a centrifugal juicer without pulp ejection. I also have a Breville "wide mouth" (which I don't like), and an Omega 8006. So, I know how to put the parts together and I am very experienced with juicing.

I think my Omega Big Mouth juicer (this product) may be defective. The blade shaves off plastic from the bottom of the top piece. In addition, there is side leakage. I juiced beets, and red juice spilled out of the side, down onto the power switch area, and onto my counter.

I wanted this juicer to complement my Omega 8006. There are times that I don't want to do the cutting that the 8006 requires, so I wanted to use the Omega Big Mouth for those times. But obviously I don't want to consume plastic shavings and have juice spill over my counter.

I did place everything very precisely and made sure that it wasn't "user error". As I said above, I am very experienced with juicing, and this is the first juicer that I've used that has ever ended up juicing plastic and spilling while juicing.

Update:

The plastic shavings that came off have embedded themselves in the centrifugal sides. I am watching TV tonight while trying to remove them. Even a nylon brush is having trouble removing them. This is not the new-juicer-experience that I was looking for when I bought this juicer.

Update:

Many of the plastic shavings are not coming off the screen. I don't know the physics involved, but maybe it's because plastic shavings at 12,000 rpm hitting the screen may have permanently embedded in to the screen. This juicer is ruined, and I only got to use it once.

Update:

Now the juicer has a hard time turning on. I know that it has to be assembled correctly for it to turn on, as a safety measure. I've used other juicers before, including the Omega 1000, so assembling a juicer is nothing new to me. This one is clearly defective. Unfortunately, I have the box for the juicer, but not the styrofoam that goes in the box for packaging.

I bought it from [...] and don't know if I will be able to return it. All I would want is a replacement juicer that works.

5Great warranty, Customer Service, OperationMay 10, 2011
By Wind Sock @ 2PONDS
After reading the comments about this juicer, I am moved to write about this product's performance, as well as, Omega. Let me preface, I have owned and used the 1000 Series (no side shoot)since 1981 - it still works perfectly when used correctly. (i.e. mixing leafy with hard causes the pulp to lay inside in such a way that juicer gets off balance). I am considering purchasing this one as I tire of cleaning out the bowl of the 1000 and want to be able to juice more without having to stop as often.

Now for this Omega. My sister owns two of these, as well as masticating, and blenders as she runs a mobile juice bar. She recently purchased one of these for Earth Day here in Dallas. It arrived 10 days before the event. She plugged it in and started to juice. It began to burn up. She contacted Omega who sent her a replacement within 2 days as well as a little nice surprise that I won't get into. She was up and running for Earth Day with two of these juicers, lemon press, and blenders. My husband and I operated the Omega 330s. One was used for "green drinks" (kale, spinach, parsley, w/a piece of fruit thrown in if requested) the other for the "specialty drinks" with mostly apple, pear, beets, carrots, ginger, cucumbers. We made about 250-300 drinks in two days with these two juicers. The cleanup was easy enough - dump the bucket and rinse the bowls, and cutting disc. We had a great time and everyone loved their juice.

Now it was important to keep everything looking orderly in the 10 x 8 booth with 6 large coolers, boxes of organic fruit and veges, as well as 2 3 x 7 tables. Get the picture? There was no "juice spurting out" or any other spurting of the juicers. In other words, we were busy all the time and I was on the lookout for spills, etc. to clean up lest the Health Department decide we weren't doing it the right and clean way. So I suggest for those who are having trouble with "juice spurting out" that you keep the pusher in until the item is completely juiced; as that is the way it is suppose to be operated. And I might add, my sister reports having "stuff spurting out" when she didn't empty the catch bucket as required during her "learning curve". We never had that problem at Earth Day as we operated within the design limits. Enough said - this is a great juicer -

4Read this if you have had problems with this machineJan 16, 2012
By Deirdre Chadwick
Caveat: we have had this juicer only about a week, but we have used it multiple times a day since then. As many others have said, a lot of research is needed before investing in a juicer, and deciding which type (auger vs. centrifugal) is best for you is a big part of it. This centrifugal machine is very versatile - it seems to be able to juice almost anything.

If you are hearing rattling or grinding; detecting a burned smell; or getting juice all over your counter via leaks in the machine: YOU DON'T HAVE IT PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY. We have experienced each of these issues once over the past week. We always stop the machine right away, make sure there are no bits of pulp caught somewhere, carefully put the parts back and close the clips simultaneously, and the problem goes away.

This juicer is quite finicky and takes some practice to make sure the parts are fitting together exactly right. We have even found that it makes a difference if you close the safety clips on the side at the same time versus closing first one and then the other.

Arguably, a $200+ should be more foolproof. And certainly, if you feel that way then perhaps another machine would be right for you. I gave four stars instead of five because of this idiosyncrasy. But I must emphasize how much we LOVE this juicer. We can juice any greens (just put them in first), citrus with the peel, ginger, beets, carrots, celery, apples, pears, you name it. I like some pulp in my juice, and this machine gives that (more nutrition & fibre, so what's not to like?). My kids are even drinking fruit-veggie blends and enjoying them.

I also was impressed with the ten-year warranty. Breville only guarantees their similar machine for one year, which didn't inspire my confidence.

Whatever you decide to buy, go ahead and get juicing! I have cut my coffee consumption by 3/4 because the fresh juice first thing in the morning gives me so much energy, I don't need the caffeine.

Wishing you all good health and enjoyable longevity!
