Seems accurate, good infoJun 15, 2009
By Nat Arem I've used this on a few sources since buying it a few weeks ago.
Suburban Philly tapwater: 230 ppm
Same water but filtered by the fridge: 200 ppm
Dasani: 30 ppm
Grand Cayman tapwater: 175 ppm
Le Bleu delivered water: 0 ppm
Needless to say I was shocked by the Le Bleu but it really re-enforced the value of paying for purified water. I know the Dasani might actually have some good things in it (magnesium, potassium, etc) but I would definitely recommend getting a tester like this and finding a way to get water (delivered, RO filter, etc) which is pure. It's a small price to pay to independently verify the purity of the water you're drinking.

It seems to workNov 27, 2008
By C. Schmidt It seems to work.. I have no way to gauge if it is truly accurate. :) However, when testing a water source before and after it entered our RO filter, it clearly showed that the RO filter was working. Have had this for about 4 months now and it has worked fine w no battery problems.
It is good that it has a button to save your reading until you take it out of the water. Without that, sometimes it's hard to read the display while the meter is in the water container.

Must have item!May 21, 2007
By Denis Stenderchuck I live in area with contaminated water by industry and very old water system.I'm using charcoal water filter for water cleaning which require regular cartridge replacement. Thanks to this device I'm able to judge if it's time to replace filter, as in beginning TDS level of tap water and filtered one differ, but approximately after one month of use readings become almost same.

Compact pen-style TDS meter with hold featureFeb 13, 2009
By Gordon M. Wagner Functions well, compact size. The hold feature is essential. Excellent price. No complaints. I am surprised to find out how clean (or unclean) various water sources are. I bought this to monitor our under-sink Reverse Osmosis filtration setup. Clean water is wonderful, this meter lets you know how pure your water is.

Using for hydroponics with no problemMar 08, 2010
By MahJongg Rave
"MahJongg Rave"
I was going to buy a pricey EC meter, buy my hydroponics dealer said this one would be just as good.
The only drawback is that it only has 3 digits, so anything higher than 999 ppm requires you to multiply by 10. (A tiny "x10" indicator flashes when that's the case.)
I use it with my Aerogarden to grow lettuce, herbs and tomatoes. The only other drawbacks are
1. It's not totally submersible, so I'm afraid of dropping it into my Aerogarden.
2. It's not all that easy to read. But it does have a "hold" button, so you can read it after pulling it out of the water.
For the price, I'm very happy I got it.
