Disappointed...Jun 08, 2009
By T. Haupt After much debate on buying the Good4U or Excalibur dehydrator, this one won out. I was impressed with the price and design of the unit. I wish I had got the Excalibur, with the problems I have had!
I used it 5 out of 7 days a week for 3 months. It started to make a loud clicking noise to which my husband figured out that the electrical tape holding some wires had come loose. After fixing that, a week later it stopped heating altogether. The heating temp switch also broke. I cook a lot of raw so it was upsetting not know what temp I was dehydrating at.
We have contacted the website and called the company's phone number to no end. Two months later NO ONE WILL CONTACT US BACK. This dehydrator has great potential, but some bugs that need to be worded out before buying. It needs the company to stand behind its guarantee to its registed buyers!
BE CAREFUL when buying this. I wish I would have bought the excalibur, because I now will buy it in addition to this broken one!

Exceeds expectationsMar 25, 2009
By salute_to_veterans We have used this dehydrator for three months, and continue to be pleasantly surprised with the excellent quality of dried fruits and fruit leathers. We mix a little fresh lime juice with the fruit to prevent discoloration and it works like a charm every time. We also have a round, convection type (very old, no fan) dehydrator that works great for raisins and bananas. But for everything else (we grow papayas and other tropical fruits year round in the backyard), this model is super fast and produces outstanding dried foods. I turned 6 quarts of papaya fruit into 4 sheets of beautiful translucent orange leather from one afternoon to the next morning. We have also dried orange and grapefruit slices as well as the usual fare like apples and pears. The extras included with this unit make it a very practical purchase. There are 4 non-stick "film" type sheets for leathers, as well as 4 mesh sheets for smaller foods, which we haven't needed yet. The fan is not too loud, but we run it in the garage most of the time as the increased humidity where we live is more of an issue than the noise. The cord is a nice length, about 5 feet. Everything fits together well, easy clean up as the trays are an attractive lightweight blue plastic. The on-off switch is separate from the thermostat. You control the heat with a dial, and the fan blows a lot of air from back to front all the time.
This is a great product and highly recommended.

Nice MachineApr 16, 2009
By Josette Michele The only trouble I had with this machine was the instructions were not clear on how to turn it on. Once that was settled, I have enjoyed using this dehydrator to make delicious raw food. It runs very quietly and the DVD that is included is helpful to getting started making your own high quality food.

GO AHEAD AND BUY IT!Jun 01, 2009

If you've been looking into dehydrators it is a confusing process. If you are a small homesteader looking to preserve your harvest, this is the way to do it.
I'm still learning the "how to" p
art, but have been very successful so far.
Herbs retain their color and flavor
Fruit, well, YUM.
Citrus was a huge surprise. Extra YUM.
Beef Jerky? I think I'm doing something wrong there, but will keep on trying.
EXCELLENT price, useful tool, so, go ahead, buy it!
