3lacked what I wanted.... now I'm stuck.... will go onApr 09, 2009
Well... I bought this ionizer. I wanted a lot of high pH alkaline water. The higher the better. Wanted to drink gallons and have every thing cooked with this high pH alkaline water. This machine WAS NOT the machine I was looking for... and no where was I warned. Even the instruction manual and DVD that came with the unit did not say that this machine can only make SMALL amounts of alkaline water at a time and not that high a pH.

I was so happy when I got the machine. Drinking glass after glass. Easy to use. I made up 3 gallons to take to a friends house. I pulled out my pH strips to show how high an alkaline this great water was and ..... it was not much above neutral. Here is what I have found out.

You have to run the water at the smallest trickle you can with out the cleaning cycle kicking in again. Only a pint at a time of so-so high alkaline water can you make. Any more and the machine greatly reduces the pH. The machine does not tell you "sorry buddy but I am maxed out". To make a gallon of alkaline water would take some time. The machine should have a cut off when the plates can no longer handle it. If you run the machine too long you will not get much change than from standard tap water.

I was told I could upgrade. I would have lost a huge part of what I paid and then had to buy one in the 2000 buck range.

So I am stuck with it. However..... I make a pint at a time and then I had 2 drops of AlkaLife alkaline booster. Bought some here on Amazon. A bottle goes a long way. If you can not afford a 875 microlite then these drops are the way to go. Two drops in a 8oz glass most definitely raises it into the high pH alkaline range. By adding drops to my pint of microlite "royalwater" it likewise gives me the high pH water I am looking for. Cheaper than me upgrading, loosing money and then putting a a huge amount for a better, more powerful ionizer. I assume that at least I am getting the extra oxygen by having the water ionized. Wish I new at the beginning. If I was told at the beginning I probably would have just gave in and forked out the real big bucks..... like 875 is not big bucks too. I do believe in alkaline by design, acid by function.... and hope to change it.

I have since bought some cesium chloride and potassium and plan on mixing drops for the royal water instead of the AlkaLife. This machine did not give me what I was looking for BUT I will make do.

4It works well for the price paidJul 17, 2007
The filter was able to achieve around an 8.5 (out of 10) on the alkaline scale, which is good but not excellent.

Getting a 10 would be great, but it really depends on your source water. If your source water has lots of minerals in it, then it is possible. But in my case, I guess my water source (city water) doesn't have alot of minerals). I have considered buying a remineralization filter add-on which would increase the amount inside, but I can live with 8.5 water for now.

Be aware that you have to find a "sweet spot" of water pressure for the unit to perform.

To find this out, run the unit on several different water level pressures, and then test samples with the reagent testing kit. Once you find a pressure level that is right for you, ONLY use the unit with this pressure level, otherwise it doesn't perform that well.

My unit did not put out acid water (no matter what I did), but I don't have any need for acid water, only alkaline water, so it was not that big of a deal.

The performance of the unit greatly depends on the water source being put into it. The water must have trace minerals in it in order for the ionization process to work. That means you have to use tap water, or a special filter that doesn't remove the minerals. Or you can buy a remineralization filter as well which puts minerals back into the water after it has been filtered.

However, I find it easier to just use tap water directly from the faucet.

The system was also easy to install, and is WAY easy to use (all you do is turn the faucet on, and push a button). That's it!

It even has a filter warning LED, which tells you when to replace the filter.

Overall, I would rate this unit as a BUY if you don't want to spend alot of cash, and you are not too concerned with a large volume of filtered water. It is sufficient for family use.
