Acme 5001 Juicerator Household Centrifugal Juicer White Plastic

SKU:

ACME5001

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

Compact, attractive and durable, the powerful Acme centrifugal extractor gets high marks for the amount and quality of its juice as well as its relatively easy cleanup. In fact, users say its residue is so dry that juice yields are 20 percent to 35 percent greater than the slightly more convenient automatic pulp-ejection models. Optional Disposable Filters Because juicing is fundamentally a messy business, ease of cleanup is a major selling point, especially among serious, regular juicers. Built to Last Equipped with a rugged 1/4-horsepower motor and stainless steel housing and backed by a long warranty, the Acme delivers enough power to extract juice from a wide range of fruits and vegetables (a citrus attachment is required for orange juice). Its relatively high rpm can heat juices -- problematic for those concerned about oxidation and/or storing fresh juices. Because the ACME JUICERATORĀ® can extract nearly every last drop of moisture from fruits and vegetables, it produces a "deep juice" - a juice far richer and tastier than any you may have ever experienced. The incomparable delicious taste of garden-fresh juices from the ACME JUICERATORĀ® is sure to be a special treat. Patented gyro base A perfectly balanced flywheel, combined with non-marking feet encircling the base, eliminates "walking" and all other vibration. "Floating action" stainless steel blade The surgical-quality blade changes position while juicing, causing the pulp to be evenly distributed, and avoiding a major source of undue wear and tear. Self-adjusting clutch A self-adjusting mechanism compensates for normal wear to ensure trouble-free operation. Easy to clean A light twist releases the patented clutch, and all parts lift out for quick, easy cleaning. Exclusive powerful motor The ACME JUICERATORĀ® induction-type motor has no brushes that can wear out. It requires no maintenance or lubrication. Stainless steel basket/strainer The precision-balanced basket, w

5Acme set the standard for juicersJun 10, 2005
By Joseph W. Keyes
Acme was the standard for juicers when we purchased ours 15 years ago. It still does everything -- soft, hard, and green leafy vegetables, fruits, and root vegetables. The pulp from carrot and celery make the base for a great "un-chicken" salad.
The citrus attachment is a worthwhile accesssory for orange and grapefruit juices. It is rock-solid and has never needed any part repaired or replaced.

On the down side, it is heavy, bulky, a bit noisy. The newer juicers appear more ergonomic and boast more features, but I'm not sure if they can lay claim to the durablility of the Acme.

5Strong, dependable, great value.Sep 28, 2004
By S. Hunter "sara_h"
I bought an Acme Juicerator in 1978, use it several times a week and it is still going strong! It works great, it's easy to use, and to clean. I highly recommend it. The strong motor and stainless steel disc blades powers through whatever I put in it, and the fresh juice is fabulous.

3solid build, not hassle freeMar 28, 2008
By Joseph L. Kolb
i've had my acme 5001 for years. i agree it is well-built and sturdy. my main complaint is the filter sheets. you have to use these filter sheets (which are bleached) on it. once they start getting covered with pulp, you get less juice out of the machine. so, if you are doing a lot of juicing at once, you'll have to change filters, or, it will be like a King of Queens comedy episode were Doug goes through a bag of fruit for a couple drops of juice. (i have been told you can juice without the sheets.) cleaning it is a hassle too. i do own the citris attachment. it works great, though big and bulky. the shoot is small also and you have to cut cup things like apples or larger veggies. also very hard to clean. i would look into better designed juicers as there are plenty to choose from.

5Bought mine in 1977Feb 20, 2007

That would be 30 years of serious juicing, and it's still going strong. It powers through about anything you stuff in it, and it's heavy and stays where you put it. Yes, it's a bit noisy-- it sounds something like a miniature tree chipper (fine as long as it works like one) but it's not as loud as our KitchenAid stand mixer. It makes great juice.

Does a great job with the citrus too. I have never regretted my purchase.

5I love my old Acme 5001Jan 20, 2011

I purchased my Acme 5001 in the mid 70's at a yard sale for $15. Two elderly ladies were selling their deceased brothers household goods and I
lucked out and got the 5001. It has been a workhorse, I have been using it 3 or 4 times a week since then. It does a terrific job on hard veggies
such as carrots, beets, celery, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, etc. It can't do small greens like parsley. It does large leaf veggies like swiss chard
well if you roll up the leafs or wrap them around a carrot before putting them down the chute. It has a stainless steel round inner basket that catches the pulp. Despite what some reviewers have said you do not need to use paper filters in the basket, it works just fine or better without them in my opinion. To clean, get a blue Scotch-Brite scrub sponge. You know the type with blue sponge on one side and blue scrubbie on the other.
Cut it in half so you have a piece thats about 3" X 3". This fits perfectly in the steel basket. First stick your hand in the basket and go completely
around the basket with your fingers catching the pulp in your hand. It will be very dry pulp, not sloppy at all. Throw it into a plastic bag or down the garbage disposal, whichever works. This takes 20 seconds. Then rinse the basket under running water in the sink while first wiping the outside of the basket with the sponge then wiping the inside with the sponge, wiping out the last of the pulp. Then rinse the other parts off under running water while using the sponge. Dry with a paper towel, reassemble and you are ready to go the next time you want juice. If you can't clean this unit in 3 or 4 minutes you just need a little more practice.
I read reviews of other juicers motors burning up after a year or so. Read the Acme 5001 reviews and you see that isn't the case here. It gives
great juice, leaves dry pulp. and, with a little practice, a cinch to clean. I will buy another if this one ever dies but so far it works as well as the day I bought it many years ago. Hope this helps........
