Description:

Compact, attractive and durable, the powerful Acme centrifiugal extractor gets high marks for the amount and quality of its juice as well as its relatively easy cleanup. In fact, users say its residue is so dry that juice yields are 20 percent to 35 percent greater than the slightly more convenient automatic pulp-ejection models. Optional Disposable Filters Because juicing is fundamentally a messy business, ease of cleanup is a major selling point, especially among serious, regular juicers. Built to Last Equipped with a rugged 1/4-horsepower motor and stainless steel housing and backed by a long warranty, the Acme delivers enough power to extract juice from a wide range of fruits and vegetables (a citrus attachment is required for orange juice). Its relatively high rpm can heat juices -- problematic for those concerned about oxidation and/or storing fresh juices. Because the ACME JUICERATORĀ® can extract nearly every last drop of moisture from fruits and vegetables, it produces a "deep juice" - a juice far richer and tastier than any you may have ever experienced. The incomparable delicious taste of garden-fresh juices from the ACME JUICERATORĀ® is sure to be a special treat. Patented gyro base A perfectly balanced flywheel, combined with non-marking feet encircling the base, eliminates "walking" and all other vibration. "Floating action" stainless steel blade The surgical-quality blade changes position while juicing, causing the pulp to be evenly distributed, and avoiding a major source of undue wear and tear. Self-adjusting clutch A self-adjusting mechanism compensates for normal wear to ensure trouble-free operation. Easy to clean A light twist releases the patented clutch, and all parts lift out for quick, easy cleaning. Exclusive powerful motor The ACME JUICERATORĀ® induction-type motor has no brushes that can wear out. It requires no maintenance or lubrication. Stainless steel basket/strainer The precision-balanced basket, w

4Inexpensive & Works reasonably wellJun 27, 2010
I used Omega 1000 for about 12 years. Then I tried "Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor" after reading many many great reviews. It was a total disappointment. I really wonder if the people we left reviews really made any juice. I returned this. Then I tried "Omega 4000 Stainless-Steel 1/3-HP Continuous Pulp-Ejection Juicer" as I was familiar with Omega. But this is another big disappointment. I returned this too.
Finally I bought ACME juicer and surprisingly it works great. Greens like Kale & Chards are great to use with this juicer. It extracted more juice than the other three. There is a problem if you try to reuse the leftover to extract more juice. Couple of times it went out of balance and the top came off. I do not know how the top can come off. May be I used call Acme. But I am working around it as this juicer does give more juicer compared to the three I tried. Breville was worst. Omega 4000 is poor too. But Omega 1000 is simillar to ACME 6001. Anyway I will continue to use this juicer.
Carrots, Apples & celery are great to juice out of this juicer.

5Lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts.....Mar 25, 2010
I have this juicer sitting on my counter. I've owned it for 35 years believe it or not. It has had periods of time where I wasn't using it that much, but at some period during every year, this juicer has gotten a workout. Right now it is getting a workout, creating juices 6 times a day. I realize that it is now thought that centrifugal juices do not produce the most nutritional juices, but if you are going to buy one, this is was a quality built product when I bought it 35 years ago and has stood the test of time. It juices everything well, except greens. Some greens do fine in it, like Kale and Swiss Chard but something like parsley is a no go. Oh, and it is easy to clean since it uses filters and I've never once had to have it repaired or even had to replace a part. I find that amazing in this day and age.

5What a work horse!May 21, 2009
Also got my Acme sometime in the 70's. Just brought it out of storage to start juicing again, and it works as well today as it did when I first bought it. Always was somewhat noisy and a bit of a pain to clean, but you get used to that quickly. It holds a lot of pulp between cleanings and a kitchen brush makes a quick job of it.

As a testament to the quality and the relative ease of cleaning, someone packed the unit away when we moved 5 years ago without cleaning it out first! It looked horrible, the pulp had dried but was reduced to a black papery crust covering the inside, and the plastic plunger was so badly stained that I thought it would have to be replaced. Wiped everything out and dumped it in the sink to soak in hot water and bleach. Didn't have much hope at that point, but 30 minutes later it washed up perfectly clean, as if nothing had ever happened to it! I was amazed, but probably shouldn't have been. This is undoubtedly one of the best things that I ever invested in.

5Reliable old workhorseNov 29, 2008
We have owned our Acme since approximately 1978, give or take a year or two. I can't compare it to anything else because we haven't used another machine since purchasing it. Moderately noisy and a hassle to clean, but it is an incredibly reliable workhorse that just keeps on going. Built like a tank. With the same design as the one shown here, our old model has all stainless removable parts over the white enamel motor housing. While the fact that it does not automatically eject pulp is a minus on the one hand, on the other hand, the Acme extracts up to 20% more juice according to independent reviews.

3solid build, not hassle freeMar 28, 2008
i've had my acme 5001 for years. i agree it is well-built and sturdy. my main complaint is the filter sheets. you have to use these filter sheets (which are bleached) on it. once they start getting covered with pulp, you get less juice out of the machine. so, if you are doing a lot of juicing at once, you'll have to change filters, or, it will be like a King of Queens comedy episode were Doug goes through a bag of fruit for a couple drops of juice. (i have been told you can juice without the sheets.) cleaning it is a hassle too. i do own the citris attachment. it works great, though big and bulky. the shoot is small also and you have to cut cup things like apples or larger veggies. also very hard to clean. i would look into better designed juicers as there are plenty to choose from.
